- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to discuss the customer's goals first. Each customer has their own individual needs and goals, and I am here to help them reach their highest potential. Once we know what we are aiming for, we will talk about the specific project: What is the central message or idea? Who do you want to reach and influence with your book? Are there any areas of the book that particularly concern you, and why? Are there any problem areas you've already identified that you want me to note? Answering these questions will get us off to a solid start. From there we can determine what type of edit the customer needs to help them achieve their goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a four-year degree in paralegal studies with a minor in communication from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I graduated summa cum laude and worked in the legal field for over nine years before beginning to edit professionally. I am well read and stay current in the editing and publishing industry through online classes, professional conferences, and industry publications. I also served as a faculty member for PENCON 2015, the only Christian editors' conference in the nation.
