Ihave been shooting weddings models, kids for over 15 years. I love my job because love to take pictures and create unique images with off camera lightning. Derek's attention to detail far exceeds any photographer I've ever worked with. I have been in weddings, dating back 16 years, that he has worked and his work evolves with the times. There is truly such a unique charm to the moments he captures. The quality is exceptional, his personality is enticing and he helps coordinate the day by keeping things to schedule. Special events that are normally stressful are always a breeze when he's "on set". I cannot stress it enough-- This is a photographer you WANT to hire!

I had never heard of Thumbtack prior to planning my wedding. I requested quotes from several photographers from the website. We hired Derek for our wedding July 1, 2017. From our first meeting to the final photographs we viewed, his work, thoroughness, attention to detail and creativity is amazing! Derek is worth every penny if you are trying to capture a special day or event. We have six adult children and each one of them were beyond happy with the photographs taken. I spoke with other photographers prior to meeting Derek. No one comes close to having been prepared like Derek was for our first meeting. I feel so fortunate that we have the most incredible memories thanks to Derek Katana.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes i have price list which I can send the client on request.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We make an appointment at my location where I can show new client several albums from previous wedding that we have shot, and several large prints on canvas, metal, acrylic. Then we go over pricing options, and we talk about their schedule of the wedding day so we can fit best package for their needs. I also do destination wedding so then we usually do the consultation over FaceTime.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took photography in high school and photography classes after high school.
