I also am available for freelance writing. I am willing to consider all types of writing, for individuals and organizations. I specialize in dog topics, particularly dog biographies. I am the Contributing Writer of Retriever News, and have been writing features for the magazine since 2008.
I established Tenacular in 1983. My Dognacular business is an outgrowth of my hobby -- training and competing with my dogs.
'Tenacular' means spectacularly tenacious. It also refers to a Perfect 10 score.
My house and office were destroyed in the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA on 11/08/18. Ninety-five percent of the town burned down. I now am based in Hartsfield, Georgia.
If you are a prospective client, I prefer that you come to my property in for your initial session. This will save you money. If I come to you, I need to charge for my travel time and mileage.
Please be aware that Thumbtack charges me a fee if I respond to your inquiry, whether or not you hire me. The inquiries that most likely will receive a response are those that give me lots of details about your situation, and if you are willing to come to me for an initial session.

TENACULAR RECOURSES:
I have been licensed as a private investigator since 1983. My original work consisted of just investigations, skip tracing and process serving. Along the way, I realized that many of my investigation clients needed more than just information, they needed help with what to do with that information. This led to the additional offering of communication counseling and dispute resolution services: mediation, arbitration, and negotiation.
My rate generally is $80/hour.

DOGNACULAR aka TENACULAR DOGS:
I offer dog training and mentoring services for dog owner-handlers and their dogs, including:
- Obedience (non-competitive) for all breeds
- Problem solving
- Retriever work, both waterfowl and upland
- Dock-jumping
I work with kid handlers as well as adults. I also work with a variety of disabilities in handlers and in dogs.
I offer one-on-one private lessons so I can best your individual needs and those of your dog. Some basics can be covered in a group class; but, group classes are not conducive to individual issues you may be having with your dog.
My charges are much less than most of my competitors. I charge $50 for an initial session, which are two hours in length. I have found that this is the average amount of time necessary for me to provide the services that I do. I will assess your dog and your level of knowledge and abilities in handling your dog, then devise a training program for both of you that suits your particular situation. I then get you started on it and you will leave with homework assignments. This initial session is all some of my clients need, which makes me happy as well as them.
There is no obligation to continue beyond your initial session. If you desire more, I charge $40/hour or $350 if you pre-pay for ten hours of my time. If you pay hourly, your lessons will be in hourly increments. If you pre-pay, you can divide the ten hours into the increments you need, from as short as fifteen minutes to as long as you like. Longer sessions generally apply to people who have come from longer distances, those who are having difficulties that shorter sessions cannot adequately address, and clients who are working on advanced skills with their dogs.
