Our dog obedience and behavior modification programs provide reliable, simple and effective solutions to meet the needs of our clients, and are offered throughout the Southeastern United States. Our Trainers are dedicated to providing quality solutions to fit the needs of our clients and their dogs. My experiences and training well exceed the industry standards. I am a United States Army veteran of ten years, where I served in 3rd Ranger Battalion, Americas premiere special operations light infantry unit. I did 9 combat deployments overseas, 3 of those deployments I was a dog handler. I am a graduate of Highland Canine's 6 month Master Trainers Course. The school covered all aspects of dog training and offers the worlds best education in the dog community. I have been working with dogs for a very long time. I started my professional dog training career with Highland Canine Training early July of 2017. I have worked with a plethora of pet dogs and their owners on everything from basic/advanced obedience to behavior modification. I have experience with working/service dogs, and have assisted in the the training of several dogs in our Autism Assistance Dog Program, Homeland Security, City and State Law Enforcement agencies, and the United States Military. I specialize in not only training the dog but teaching their owners the psychology behind why dogs act a certain way. I am here to help you learn proper communication and the ability to understand your dog, as the knowledge is essential in maintaining your dogs training for life.

When I first got my dog, Theo, I was working full time and in grad school, so I really had very little time to dedicate to training my dog. My dog had been rescued from a rural area, where he had been living in the wild for some time, he was almost a year old, and he had a lot of energy! I was in desperate need of help with training! Highland Canine Atlanta worked with Theo for a few weekends and had him following basic obedience very quickly. They also taught me strategies to use with training Theo while he wasn't working directly with HCA. I was very pleased with the training and outcomes, and I will definitely use them again in the future if I have the need. Thanks Highland Canine Atlanta!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to have a no obligation, free evaluation with my potential clients and their pets. During this evaluation, I like to ask questions to see what the clients main concerns are, answer any questions they may have about myself or Highland Canine. We can talk about different training methods and tools we use and see what approach is best for them and their pet.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have worked with and grew up around dogs. I was a Special Operations Dog Handler for over 4 years in the Army, during my deployments I have seen the remarkable things these amazing animals can accomplish. I yearned to pursue my passion of learning about the dog and helping people better communicate with their furry friends, and this brought me to Highland Canine in January of 2017 to start my professional career. After completion of their 6 month School for Dog Trainers, I began working with pet dogs, service dogs and working dogs. I assisted in training new students, K9 Handlers and clients on dog behavior.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do your research and definitely ask questions. If another dog trainer can't tell you why a dog behaves the way it does, your training will not stick and you will be calling another trainer within a few months.
