Nate Hook, Musician

Introduction: First things first, my teaching studio is in 19137 (Bridesburg), and features a Kawai baby grand in an acoustically treated room. Now on to my bio: I am a professional musician, and just like I've been dedicated to my own musical education, I'm dedicated to the education of my students. Not only have I been teaching privately for over 7 years, but I've taught children as young as 4, adults, and everyone in between. I've taught in situations ranging from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's "OrchKids" program which brought music education to Baltimore City public schools, to classes at the Peabody conservatory (where I went to graduate school). I first started on Piano at age 6, and over the years I have studied jazz, classical, and popular music styles on Piano, and most woodwinds (saxophone, clarinet, and flute). I bring my own education and teaching experience to every lesson I teach. At age 6, I began learning piano, but at age 11 that I had my first truly inspiring teacher. He broke down the chords and scales of the music I already knew how to play. Learning this seemed like magic to me, and I enjoy seeing my students go through the same process I did when I truly began to play music and not just a sequence of notes I had learned by rote.
