FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In the first lesson, I will find out what the student already knows, and apply that to what I teach going forward. If the student has any bad drumming habits, I will work with them on those first, since it wouldn't be practical to continue any further until those habits are fixed. I like to get an idea of what kinds of music and beats the student likes, that way I can create lessons based on the student's interest, as well as teaching new material. I like to break the lesson into parts: review what was learned in the previous lesson, teach new material, suggest a new song or beat to learn based on the student's interests, and, end it with a jam session consisting of old and new material learned.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I took lessons for a few years in my teenage years, and one day I had friends over and one of them asked me to show him some beats. To my surprise, he caught on pretty quickly, and I realized it was a lot of fun to teach someone else. I then decided I should make a business out of teaching drums. And I love it!
