Kyle J. Rusk - Piano Teacher and Accompanist

Introduction: With more than 20 years of playing experience, 12 years of accompanying experience, and 5 years of teaching experience, Kyle is a very qualified piano teacher and accompanist in the State College, PA area. Kyle specializes in teaching the classical piano repertoire with a pedagogical philosophy that is molded around 2 core components: - Development of piano technique via the Taubman Approach - A solid understanding of music theory Once both of these components are successfully blended together, Mr. Rusk believes that musicality becomes natural, intuitive, and a truly creative process! Kyle is also an in-demand accompanist that has had over a decade of training and experience in the field. After accompanying weddings, churches and choirs in his grade school years, he served as the Mansfield University Concert Choir accompanist for a record 4 years as well as being the school's primary work-study accompanist for 2 years. His accompanying has taken him to venues such as Carnegie Hall, Germany and Latvia, and his accompaniment repertoire consists of vocal and instrumental works ranging from the baroque to the contemporary. Apart from teaching solo piano, Kyle also specializes in teaching collaborative piano music so that musicians are trained to work with conductors and other highly skilled musicians. In addition to teaching piano, Mr. Rusk currently works as a substitute teacher for the State College Area School District, primarily at the middle school level. Kyle also travels to Philadelphia every other Friday to study with Taubman master teacher, Mr. Robert Durso.
