FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Attorney Adam Bishop attended Duquesne University School of Law on a full academic scholarship and graduated with honors. After graduation, he was hired as a Trial Attorney by the Allegheny County Public Defender's Office and quickly established himself as a rising star in the Pittsburgh criminal defense community. During his tenure at the PD's Office, Attorney Bishop handled cases ranging from Retail Theft to DUI to Criminal Homicide. An aggressive criminal litigator, Attorney Bishop has litigated countless jury and non-jury trials and has a nearly 80% acquittal rate in jury trials that go to verdict.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Attorney Bishop recently represented a client charged with sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and related charges stemming from an allegation that the client had forced the alleged victim to perform various sexual acts against her will. The client had no criminal record and was gainfully employed. Nonetheless, because of the seriousness of the charges, the client was facing decades in prison if convicted. After rejecting a plea offer from the District Attorney that would have required the client to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, the case proceeded to a jury trial. The case lasted a number of days and was aggressively litigated by Attorney Bishop. After deliberating for less than an hour, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty on all charges.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If you're charged with a crime and your liberty is at stake, it's not the time to go bargain shopping. When you hire a criminal defense attorney, you get what you pay for. You need to look beyond the quoted fee and do your homework. Many criminal lawyers run low fee, high-volume businesses. These attorneys only make money if they can quickly and efficiently dispose of cases because they undercut the market with their prices. In other words, they need to push guilty pleas to be financially successful. At Bishop Law, we prepare every case as if it will ultimately be argued to a jury. Of course, in many instances, a plea bargain may be the best alternative. But without effectively preparing the case and exploring all available options, it's impossible to accurately assess whether trying the case or entering a guilty plea is the best course of action. Simply put, as a client of Bishop Law you can rest assured that Attorney Bishop will be prepared to successfully litigate your case to verdict.
