Terra Remodeling & Design
About this pro
We hired Brian and Terra Construction to do a full Master Bathroom remodel. From start to finish, Brian was with us every step. He gave suggestions, was open and honest about cost, etc. There were absolutely no surprises during the process. Brian said the project would take 3 - 4 weeks, it was done at 4. He gave me an estimate and it was only a few hundred over (which any sane person understands that there are some cost fluctuations during these projects). Brian and his team were outstanding and you should give him a call and not look anywhere else.Mar 14, 2018VerifiedBrian L.'s reply
Thank you so much for the review Barry, it was a pleasure working with you guys.
Excellent work and service. Thanks for helping me out with painting my adirondack chairs! I had Brian return a second time to paint my front door. Another outstanding end product. Thanks!Apr 12, 2017VerifiedBrian L.'s reply
It was fun helping you out with the chairs and the door, it was a nice change of pace.
Guy came to the house. Looked at my project like it was something new to him and appeared to be dumbfounded by what I was trying to do. Didn’t take measurements or asked about materials. All he said was “give me your email and I’ll get back to you with a price”. Didn’t ask what cabinets I wanted, what materials I wanted, what type of counter tops.....nothing. Wouldn’t bother to waste my time with this person. Maybe my project didn’t live up to hi$ expectation$.Mar 2, 2018VerifiedBrian L.'s reply
Hi Arnold, so sorry you had such a bad experience with me during our innitial meeting. I always try to be proffessional when representing my company, and it pains me that someone would leave such a scathing review based upon a 20 minute meeting. I didn't even get a chance to send you the estimate I had prepared before you posted your review. Frankly, I am dumbfounded, I have been doing this for a long time, and I have never had a prospective client react this way, I guess you can't win them all, but I certainly do try.
Brian Lyne and his partner Frank removed and existing vanity and cabinet and assembled and installed an IKEA a floating vanity/double sink and linen cabinet for us . Their quality and care with the work was exemplary and they were a pleasure to work with on the priject.Apr 13, 2017Verified
Brian did a great job. He showed up on time (a rarity for many contractors) and did solid work. We are looking to offer him additional work soon.Mar 15, 2017Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? For smaller jobs we offer an hourly rate which varies depending on the task involved. For larger jobs though, we usually put together an estimate for the work as a complete project. We also have worked on a time and materials basis on occasion, usually for our repeat customers, or when it is too difficult to estimate a particular task.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? After a customer contacts us we ask questions regarding their project, and based on that we can determine if the work is within the scope of what we normaly do. The second step is to set up an appointment so we can inspect the project and write an estimate for the work involved. The final step, once the proper notices have been delivered, is to draw up and sign a contract.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?My first large project was in 2001, I built a house for my wife and I on an island off the coast of Maine. It was during that project that I realized I had a knack for carpentry and construction in general. Up to that time I had worked as a commercial diver for 20 years and only did carpentry as a hobby, but after that first house I was hooked, and began doing carpentry full time. Since moving to portland I have been the general contractor on numerous full house remodels as well as remodeling three large apartment complexes. Over the years I have developed a unique skill set that makes me ideally suited for this type of work.
