Introduction: My yoga practice is unique in that it utilizes the body as a pathway to the mind and spirit. In my personal practice, I employ yoga as a tool to access the recesses of the mind I may not otherwise tune into throughout my daily life. I value sharing this experience and philosophy through my instruction, while simultaneously providing a physical outlet to awaken and tone the body. Holding a degree in psychology, I strive to unify the disciplines of yoga and psychology to create an environment that focuses on mindfulness, commitment, acceptance, as well as mental and physical flexibility for an all-encompassing approach to holistic wellness. I have extensive experience and expertise in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I also have several years of experience working with children. I have some experience and a plethora of knowledge regarding mental illness and would relish the opportunity to expand my experience with those struggling with mental illness. Additionally, I am a lifelong distance runner and specialize in catering to individuals who want to improve their running form or to alleviate the stresses of running on the body. While yoga provides some kind of therapy for most physical limitations, I like to stress that private instruction is not designed to target specific injuries and I do not have a medical background. My expertise lies in the movement and practice of yoga and I am happy to make modifications to accommodate limitations or injury, but I cannot provide specific therapy or consultation regarding these.
I am supremely passionate about yoga and the impact it can make on one's quality of life overall. Yoga has played a very poignant role in my own management of life stresses and my general wellness and mental resiliency, not to mention the number of physical benefits I've reaped such as improved sleep, flexibility, strength, endurance, and more. I feel honored for every opportunity I get to integrate this level of wellness into every person's life. Not only do I love to share my philosophy and experience of yoga with those around me, but I love the chance to gain insight and growth from my peers and students as well. Yoga is a craft that always leaves room for improvement.
