I want to sympathize with Troy's excuses, but I just can't. I wish that I hadn't hired him. I'll point out the good and the bad first: +Timely with responses +Very Friendly -Makes excuses -Doesn't guarantee "a finished job" (I'll explain this later -Lack of attention to detail (I wish this review let me attach pictures for an example) Troy is a very nice guy, but after I asked him to stain my back porch I am left picking up the pieces. We bought a semi-transparent stain and I told him that it looked a little more purple in the can (as a concern) and that the woman who mixed my stain cautioned me to find someone who has used this before and his response was "Yea some of those guys at the store talk a good game but have no hands in experience." Okay? I felt like he brushed off my concerns. My husband and I checked on him as he was finishing the second coat. I couldn't help but to simply say, "I think this just doesn't look good." I pointed out many spots that really bothered me. The coat was incredibly uneven, there were stain drip marks in certain areas where it wasn't blended, he missed some spots completely, and overall it was awful. I was very clear that it didn't look finished at all and that I wasn't happy. His response was, "Well if you do a third coat it should be fine." He also made an excuse that the unevenness of the stain had to do with the wood. This is what I mean that he doesn't guarantee his work. He wanted to charge me extra to do a third coat. He even admitted that it didn't look right and a third coat would really make it look even. I thought I was paying him to do a complete job! Not 2/3 of the project and say he was done and he'd have to charge me extra. I sent the pictures of his "finished work" to another handyman and he agreed that it was very bad. Now I have to pay AGAIN for someone to fix this. They have to paint over my porch completely to make it look nice again. Most businesses will do anything to make sure their customers are happy in fear of getting a bad review and I definitely take that into consideration. I understand that things happen. With Troy, I made my concerns very clear and he just wanted to charge me more. It was a big disappointment and very poor customer service. In conclusion, I wouldn't hire him again. I just wasted a lot of money and now have to pay someone else to fix it. I was left with excuses and a bad stain job.

Precise Improvement did an excellent job. I didn't have to wait for months to get on their calendar, and once they got here they were done in a couple of hours. The paint job looks excellent. Was very pleased!
