Introduction: I've been doing architectural design for over 35 years now. My focus is on super energy conserving designs all the way to NET Zero homes. I've done over 1,000 residential plans and many commercial projects as well. I am an expert at structural requirements. My plan sets are detailed including all structural requirements. I typically start with 3-D concept software. Once the 3-D plan & exterior is approved, I then export concept drawings into CAD for the final prints. I include electrical/lighting plan as part of the package. I have many years experience of working with innovative products - Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), Timber Framing, energy efficient lighting & HVAC packages. This greatly benefits the homeowner to lessen overall home ownership costs. I have the ability to include formal cabinetry layouts and details for kitchens and many other areas. For my method, I start with an initial phone conversation that is then followed by a site visit. This detailed initial meeting covers the design goals completely. If before the 1st client meeting, I can gain a firm understanding of the floor plan goals, then I create and bring initial floor plans to help speed up the process. If a client is unsure of his wants, then the first meeting refines his goals in a step by step manor and floor plans follow to verify I'm on track. I have done projects in almost every state and sometimes never meet the client face to face. I've gotten very good at working over the phone to refine the client's needs and wants. FYI - I just took my old web site down and am now working on a new one. This site should be active in 2 to 3 weeks. I enjoy creating formal blueprints for homeowners. I use an approach that starts with an analysis and info booklet to formally define their project. I love the folks that desire to include energy conservation as part of their design approach. It's easy to design for a reduced energy bill between 50% to 75% lower that the typical construction process. I have been active with complete NET ZERO homes that have NO energy bills.
