Introduction: Students can expect to learn a healthy technique; one which will instill a strong foundation for vocal production in classical, musical theatre and contemporary singing. Our work together will focus on breath management, support, articulation, phonation,resonance and registration through warm-ups (body, breath and vocal),vocalises and repertoire. As a teacher, it is my goal to provide you a safe and inviting place to find your own sound. Lessons are customized to meet your specific needs as a singer.
Many of my students have taken top honors at Regional and All-State Festivals as part of NJMEA and PMEA as well as at various vocal competitions; most recently the Mid-Atlantic Music Teacher's Guild where I also serve as an adjudicator. My students frequently take workshops in New York City with notable Broadway artists and composers and audition regularly for Broadway and Regional Theatre productions. Many of my students have been accepted and are continuing their educations at top college music theatre, music education, and acting programs.
I have ten years of teaching and performance experience in the central New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York regions. Music is my passion, and I am so thrilled every time I have the opportunity to share this passion with others. There is no greater joy than seeing my students progress from lesson to lesson and find the joy of music within themselves.

Ms. Katie really changed my life as a vocalist. Up until before I started taking lessons with her, I was confused on how to better myself as a singer. I was complacent and lazy when I came to practicing music. I was one of the better singers in my school, but I wanted to become one of the best in the state. I eventually decided to take lessons from Ms. Katie after attending a workshop run by her. After a couple of lessons with Katie, I immediately saw the difference. From being rejected from my Regions and All-State Choir the previous year, I was able to not only get into both choirs that year, but also score very well in my section. I also had the immense pleasure of working with Ms. Katie in a production of the musical "All Shook Up!" Having had only classical vocal training prior to the production, Ms. Katie really helped me develop the ability to sing the genre of musical theatre. She is one of the most talented vocalists and teachers I have ever worked with, but equally as important, Ms. Katie is able to connect with not only myself, but all her students on a personal level, which only benefits the student. Without Ms. Katie, I would still be the complacent immature singer that I was in the past. She brings an incredible passion and energy to her profession, and I strongly recommend her to any voice student looking to better themselves and do great things in music!

When I started taking lessons with Katie, I was an absolute beginner. But under her instruction, I now have the confidence to sing at events and pursue opportunities that I wouldn't have before. As a result of Katie's instruction, I have been accepted into the New Jersey Region Choir for high school students, I have performed and attended master classes held by Broadway professionals, and I have gained the experience to help me succeed on stage. Katie is extremely versatlie in terms of genres - we would work on a variety of songs ranging from Musical Theatre, to Classical, Pop and more. We worked on breathing, intonation, and presence - all of which have helped me tremendously. I would recccomend Katie Gornick to anybody seeking growth and versatility when it comes to their vocal performance.

I've worked with Katie Gornick in the past and I can say confidently that she is the only teacher I could ever trust with my voice. She was my voice teacher for more than 5 years and all I have accomplished would not be possible without her help. I will be performing in the NJMEA All-State Mixed Chorus for the 2nd year in a row. I placed first soprano 2 in the the NJMEA Regions Mixed Chorus 2016. Recently I competed in the MAMTG Virtuoso Classical Voice category and placed 1st with in the senior division (15+ years old). She has also prepared me as well as many other students I know with musical theatre auditions, landing us many roles in the musicals. Along with classical and musical theatre genres, Katie has also taught me jazz, pop, and country to name a few. If you are looking for a teacher to teach you everything within music and singing, Katie Gornick will.

Katie is an excellent teacher. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind and determined that all her students succeeed. Her students place in competitions, are leads in their high school musicals and are accepted into prestigious conservatories and universities for musical theatre. I would highly recommend anyone that wants a top rate teacher to study with her.

As a fellow voice teacher, I can attest that Katie is one of the best. When I need someone trustworthy to take over my students, Katie is one of the first people I go to. I choose Katie so often because she knows how the voice works, and her students sing with a healthy vocal production across the board. Within that, her Broadway instruction is top-notch, and her students sound fantastic. Katie's bubbly personality combined with her breadth of experience in teaching (including guiding students through competitions and performance anxiety issues) makes her one of the best!
