- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I had several years of housekeeping at standard hotels in the Saratoga Springs area. In 2008 I started at the Adelphi Hotel the oldest and Most distinguished hotel in the city. The hotel owner Shelia held us to rigorous standards and taught us to clean the right way. All of her maids had to wear a French Maid uniform. All of her rooms had to pass the white glove test. If you didn't live up to her standards you didn't work there very long. I was there several years before I left for an opportunity to clean at the Hilton at Saratoga. Things were different at the Hilton, more modern and a quicker pace but I adapted and applied the rigerous French Maid standards that Sheila at the Adelphi had drilled in to me. I flourished at the Hilton and eventually left the Hilton for an opportunity at the Gideon Putnam. By now I was an experienced cleaner and did well for myself there as was reflected in my tips. While I was at the Gideon Putnam I married the love of my life and settled down to raise a family. Recently I decided I missed working and decided to start OohLalamaids with the help of my husband and some trusted friends. I think life experience is the best type of education and I make sure those life lessons are applied in the practice of my profession.
