FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually charge $30/hour. If the job is a long commute and only a 1 hour job, it will $40. Most pieces of furniture take 2 hours to assemble. Items with drawers and doors may take longer. Bookshelves usually take 1 hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first try to review the assembly instructions online if the customer provides detailed information on the item. This allows me to provide a more accurate estimate on time and cost. I can also make sure I bring the correct tools in case something unusual is needed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in electrical engineering and computer science. Although I no longer work as a software engineer, I still enjoy solving problems and putting things together. I have personal experience assembling my own furniture and doing multiple remodeling projects in my own home, in addition to working with Thumbtack customers.
