Introduction: Hello! It’s Helo (pronounced Halo) Matzelle — award winning author of "Halo Found Hope," inspirational and motivational speaker. In January, 2011, at the age of forty-six, as a blessed wife and cherished mother of three, I was diagnosed with a rare tumor lying over the main (carotid) artery in my brain. I remember sitting quietly with my husband, Rich, on the day of diagnosis. I felt like I was trapped inside of a cage! In shock, unable to speak, I softly whispered, “God, please make something beautiful out of this.” Six days later, I was looking up at my neurosurgeon while lying on an operating table. He said, "I'll take care of you beautiful." Likely because he'd just shaved off half the hair from my head, hours before. My projected hospital stay was six days. But my tumor was rare (one in two million) and had a particularly nasty trait. Touch it, it's like touching poison ivy, so when doctors went in to extract it, my brain swelled, and I became non-responsive. I was not going home in six days. Defying medical odds, miracles unfolded. Eight weeks later, I returned home to a twenty week rehabilitation challenge, learning how to: walk, talk, eat, think, and function over again. I learned where hope is found, how to overcome adversity, look for silver linings, face challenges, and now I'm passing it on. Both agnostic and faith based. It's fun to captivate a crowd! Tears, laughter, and courage are drawn from the audience.
