FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge a fair price for our work and keep customers for life. So, that means we don't cut corners and we expect that we will be called on for other projects. I contract because I like building things that are awesome. I am also a licensed insurance adjuster, so I can also estimate jobs correctly without missing critical items. Often, contractors under bid, then hit you with change order surprises or delays and then the quality of the work is low because they cut corners. I know what a fair price is for labor and materials and what is needed to get it done correctly.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Get an idea of your vision/goals for the "look" and "functionality". 2. Talk about what it will take in time, labor, materials, trades to accomplish correctly. Anticipate unknowns and begin to set reasonable expectations. 3. Make sure our plan for work meets and does not exceed your budget. 4. Agree and sign contract. 5. Collect down payment and begin work. OR Refer a different qualified contractor, if the project is not a fit, possibly one with less experience, greater financial constraints, or simply willing to cut corners. NOTE: We offer to collect the down when we show up to begin work, not just when we sign the contract. Our schedule is 30/40/30. We do this to create trust and hold everyone accountable to each other. We accept cash, credit, bank drafts, tips and we provide receipts. We claim all of our revenue and begrudgingly pay our taxes like good American citizens. We issue 1099's and W2's. You are always welcome to pay in full. No Bitcoin! 6. Communicate during the process about progress and other items. 40% draw at agreed upon milestone. 7. Final inspection, complete punch list, and get sign-off for completion acceptance, final 30% payment, and lien release.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
25 years of construction/remodel experience at various phases since college. Vocational training in architectural/mechanical drafting. Work in a variety of trades - I do small projects because I enjoy it. Have been a board member of the Dallas Builders Association and a supplier member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. We can go simple or high-end, depending on what you need.
