Tutoring Services In Academia & Arts

Introduction: I am a graduate student enrolled at UC Irvine in the process of obtaining a master's degree in accounting & finance. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business from UC San Diego. I have been offering tutoring services as well as private piano lessons for more than 5 years. I am also an assistant instructor at an after-school tutoring program called Kumon, Math and Reading Center. I offer tutoring services in all subjects for grades K-12 (excluding foreign language). I have experience in working with students with learning disabilities, specifically ADHD and difficulties with focus. I am eager to work with any student regardless of their background, including (but not limiting to) English as a secondary language, behavioral and social struggles, special needs, etc. In addition to tutoring, I also provide guidance in academic planning and advising. I have worked with a diverse group of people and encountered many different situations, and with each experience, each one fostered in me a little more patience and understanding than the last. No student shall ever be turned away. My favorite subjects are math and science, which I believe are the basic building blocks of explaining the way in which our physical world functions. Curiosity is the driving force for us to explore and embrace the wonders of our universe. On the other hand, I also have extensive training and experience in music as well as dance, which are very disparate in their foundations, so I believe that I have a strong balance in logic and reasoning as well as expression and individuality. I would love to share these passions as they could be that life-changing factor or last strength of hope in someone's life like it was for mine. Becoming a teacher has never been one of my dreams. In fact, up until last year, I could never understand why anyone would want a career in one of the most under-appreciated professions in our society. After being hired at Kumon, an after-school tutoring center, I quickly realized what made this experience so rewarding and worthwhile. I've lived through my majority of my life not having the slightest idea of a purpose in this world, but knowing that I might have made a difference in even one person's life is more purpose than I could ever ask for.
