Introduction: Hello! Welcome to my page! My name is Talyn and I teach piano and music theory to kids and adults of all ages. I have taught at Speed of Sound Music in Healdsburg, CA and Music to my Ears in Cotati where I instruct kids on a weekly basis. I just moved to RI from CA and am ready to grow my student base. I have my Bachelor's degree from Sonoma State University in both Piano Performance and Jazz Studies. Piano is my passion and I want to help you find as much joy in playing the piano as I do. Talyn has been my teacher for the past 4 years, now, as she concurrently worked towards and achieved two degrees in piano performance (jazz and classical) at Sonoma State. I absolutely love her!! She is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher, personable like a friend, and professional and reliable. I don’t think she ever once cancelled a lesson with me, though I had to on occasion. She is patient, and works with you at your own pace, while at the same time pushing you to learn more and be able to reach your goals. The most important thing to me is that she made it SO fun. If you’re looking for a teacher who will help you achieve your goals and make the process enjoyable at the same time, then Talyn is the perfect teacher for you!

I have been studying classical piano with Talyn Imhoff over the past 10 months. She has helped me immensely with sight reading, technique, and articulation. She makes the lessons fun and lets me choose the pieces I want to work on. She is patient, kind, and a very accomplished pianist. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to take their playing to the next level!

Talyn is an incredibly sweet teacher who is personable and responsible with scheduling. She thoroughly instructs and reviews the lesson materials and is able to meet the diverse needs of her students. I'm very grateful for her flexibility and the way she patiently works with my son. I charge $40 per half hour lesson, $45 if I travel to you.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask what goals the student has before starting. I make sure to cover a wide variety of things to work on in the lessons. These include, rhythm, sight reading, note naming, scales, technique, theory, etc...
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my Bachelor's degree in Classical Piano and Jazz Studies. I have 10 years of teaching experience and have gigged at numerous places including hotel lobbies, wineries, restaurants/bars, school concerts, etc...
