Monty turned my old lawn mower which I hadn't used in 2 years because of the problem with parts and small engine companies wanting to charge almost the cost of a new lawn mower to fix it, into something almost brand new. Monte was constantly in touch with updates about his busy schedule which helped with planning service dates based on both of our availability. He picked up and returned my lawnmower which was extremely convenient, and completed the tune-up in three days. The mower works great (aside from a problem adjusting the self-propelling function but which I don't use anyway) and it doesn't belch black smoke anymore. This is a mower I bought from Sears in 1991, I believe, so its a bit of an antique but Monte managed to clean it up a bit. The cost was as stated both for the work and the pickup/drop off fee. Also, he followed up a couple of days later to see how the machine was working. (Photos are taken before the work to help him see what he was getting into.)May 11, 2017Verified
Repair completed and lawn mower works great. Quoted price was $45 but end price was $95 (plus $20 pickup/drop off fee + $66 parts) because he said it took so long. Took a long time and also was challenging to schedule because he didn’t show up when he said he would to pick it up and then came a day later to drop it off. unit had water running onto it for 2 years. water entered the crankcase through the carburetor. carb had rust and calcium built up inside. engine was hydrolocked ( froze up) . 6 oil. changes. customer was aware of the home service fee. Im not sure how customer didnt notice the rust stains on top of mower in the daylight for i asked if there was anything wrong. i invested 7 plus hours into mower thats about 240 in labor. i charged 50 for a reconditioned mower that looked and performed perfectly. Jeff received a timely and fantastic deal. i made less than 7 an hour. my texts to Jeff went unanswered dor almost 2 weeks. Pictures were sent right away when i began. they were ignored. Jeff's wife was very appreciative , very nice too. and thought it should have been stored in a better place, thankful it looked like brand new. Enjoy

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?very difficult to have a standard. I do know I'm not charging nearly enough on some things. Refinishing furniture and repairing makes it difficult to even bid. If I charged actual hours people would feint...... we cannot have that. I do need to raise some prices or fail at business.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?4 years of engine classes on my auto mechanic side. 2 and 4 cycle certified in 2013. on the job training in painting, texturing ceilings since 1974. I learned from one of the best who painted over 60 years. Rogers best compliment to me..... you can do anything you want, there's nothing you can't do.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?My stepfather Roger needed help spray texturing a ceiling when I was 11. I enjoyed making him proud and customer's smile..... I was hooked!
