I showed up at Karols to find an old Hayward pump handle DE pool filter that had not been properly serviced or backwashed for years. Because with all due respect I believe it was beyond Karol's ability to do so. Plus they are not a good design to begin with, and are difficult to take care of. For homeowners and pool service people. It was cracked and leaking due to the neglect. And had several pounds of DE crammed in it, probably for YEARS. I suggested to change to a more simple cartridge type filter, that would be easier to manage She said OK, so I plumbed a good quality VERY COMPETITIVELY PRICED Waterway 100 Sq. Ft. cartridge filter on her pool. FOR VERY LITTLE IF ANY PROFIT. Because I surmised that for her to service any kind of filter was a stretch (with all do respect), I offered for FIFTY DOLLARS A MONTH (a gift), for myself and a friend in the business, to stop by 2 to 3 times per month, to check and clean the filter, AND apply chemicals to her pool. She said NO. She contacted me a week or so later to tell me the new filter that I had plumbed on her pool was leaking. I told her I would check it out, and if need be, replace it. I did both. I removed the Waterway filter, and replaced it with a Pentair 100 sq. ft. Clean and Clear cartridge filter. Not a better quality and easier to maintain pool filter available. At of course NO EXTRA CHARGE TO HER, AND A SUBSTANTIAL MONEY LOSS FOR ME. Which I had and still have no problem with. Soon after, I had out of town family issues to address and be involved with. She started calling saying she couldn't handle the filter. Quite frankly because I don't think she is capable of servicing any pool filter herself. As the calls progressed she became more threatening and mean. This as I was dealing with substantial family challenges. She finally submitted the negative review. And has since sent me a private message apologizing. As the old saying goes... you can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but pleasing all of the people all of the time... along with MANY other people I do try, but...Type your response to this review.
