Anna photographed our son's Bar Mitzvah - capturing the spirit of the event, perfectly. She is unflappable - there was a fire, which closed Parley's Canyon, at the exact time she was on the road to meet us for the family photos we'd planned before the service. She called with updates, and as soon as she arrived - helped troubleshoot and create a new plan on the fly. We hadn't planned. on photographing the service, but Anna and the rabbi both convinced us to do that, in light of the altered schedule. She and her assistant were invisibly present—capturing priceless moments of our family and friends engaging in the service, of our son leading the service, cracking jokes and more. Tiny vignettes that, through her editing, created a beautiful story of the day. I have seen other B'nai Mitzvah photographers whose presence borders on disrupting the service. Anna is the opposite of that.
The other choice we made was to purchase her most expansive package -we couldn't use all the hours with just the service and party, so we asked her to come to our home for the bagel brunch open house we planned for the Sunday morning after the Bar Mitzvah. She captured some amazing candids, and did informal mini-shoots with cousins and friends in the house and outside. Everyone was relaxed, and perhaps a little too tired to be self-conscious. The house was overflowing with people--and she captured that feeling and found, again, quiet vignettes we were too busy to notice.
