Introduction: The first thing that sets me apart from other teachers is that I earned a Degree in Music Education with multiple certifications in Piano Pedagogy from International Piano Teaching Foundation and Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. I also have certifications from World Music Drumming and a Master Certificate in ORFF Schulwert. Additionally, I have thirty plus years teaching music to children ages 2-Adult. Included in those years was my fifteen years as a Classroom Music Educator at San Antonio Country Day School Montessori. The second thing that sets me apart is the materials and training I received from Musikgarten. Musikgarten follows the young child into a world of music that reveals the elements of Complete Music Literacy. Movement, Imagination, Story-telling, Singing, Beat Experience, Aural and Ambulatory Development, Creating and Instrument Playing all happen in a class designed with children and their development in mind. What sets Musikgarten apart from other popular programs or methods is our 9-Year Path to Complete Music Literacy. Musikgarten develops ears that hear and eyes that see and understand and perform notation. Using the keyboard as a resource, the skills learned in Musikgarten will translate into any other performance medium-dance, theater or instrument playing as well as improvisation and composing. Ultimately, the students play tunes and harmonize them by ear, read music, play in ensemble, and are introduced to music and musicians from around the world. It is longer than 30 mins.........typically 45+ mins. Other classes are different prices based on age and length of lesson typically 45mins.-over an hour. It is most exciting when parents tell me that their child sings our songs constantly at home or that their little student is anxious to share the activities with others. It is satisfying when wiggly little ones begin to focus and learn. We take in pride in being experienced, up-to-date and current on research and music methods. When recital time comes for older students, it is amazing to watch how music has become their own as they become Musically Literate.
