Introduction: I am professionally trained as an artist, and I have been working in the art field for over 15 years. I received my bachelor's degree from SDSU in Fine Art and my master's degree from Pratt Institute, where I was valedictorian of my class. I have been teaching art to students of all ages and abilities for over 10 years. I have been trained as a painter and a sculptor. I have taught drawing, painting, sculpting, mixed media, and art history. My own work has incorporated a wide variety of practices such as drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, video, photography, and installation. I have shown my work in many major cities including San Diego, Los Angles, and New York.
I have taught art in a variety of settings such as museums, studios, galleries, classrooms, and homes. Art has been a tool I have used to express myself and communicate with others. It has provided me with an emotional outlet and been very therapeutic. Sharing my passion for art with others is my purpose. I like to develop my students by giving them a very strong foundation in the fundamental principles of design while strengthening technical skill in their medium. I have worked with students to prepare them for college and can help develop professional portfolios. I have also worked with students who are just beginning their creative journey and are interested in exploring new activities.
