About this pro
Whether for your wedding or just wanting to bring the benefits of dance into your life, I teach people the art of connection in partner and social dance! With more than a decade of teaching and dancing, my teaching method makes sure you learn how to make dancing FEEL good together, and not just like you both know similar footwork. No matter the style, I personalize lessons to your learning style and goals so your lessons and dance are exactly what you need! I teach all styles of Ballroom and Latin/Rhythm dance including Swing and Bachata. I specialize in Salsa and Argentine Tango as well as Wedding Dances. I believe a first dance should be as unique as your bond and I work with you to make your ideal first dance a reality- whether that's a low key intimate social slow dance or a showy and dramatic choreographed piece! As a boutique studio in Hillcrestm, my studio is completely client focused and I offer both private and semi private classes but you'll never feel like you're packed into a class and getting lost in the mix. It's the best way to learn! I also offer specialty group classes for New Parents & Baby in the carrier, Seniors, LGBT Community Classes, DanceFit, Daddy-Daughter Class, and iconic choreo classes. I also do choreography for Special Events and bridal parties as well as teach private parties for your next great event, family get together or company gathering. My private classes are a great party activity and when I teach corporate groups, we focus on dance as a team building exercise and I use it to discuss the importance of listening and communication with employees. Lots of great lessons to take away from it AND it gets your group active! My clients aren’t just any ‘clients’, they’re a part of the Cori-ography family. And if my studio feels warm like home, it’s all thanks to those guys. I live to see happy glances, smiling faces, romantic gazes, and raucous laughter on my dance floor! I love people. Hearing my clients’ stories, seeing them figure out how to move together for the first time, figuring out how to reach each one of them, learning what dance and music have helped them overcome or accomplish…all of these fascinating and oh so different lives and personalities all coming together on the dance floor for a song…it lights up my mind and heart! Dance has an endless array of benefits and my mission is to bring those benefits to each of my clients lives in the most impactful way possible.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Every client will choose from lesson packages that will best help them get started achieving their goals. My packages are developed to meet your needs, budgets and schedules. Private instruction generally costs between $65 and $90 per lesson depending on the package size and length of time. Some packages include groups and semi privates to help lower the per lesson price as well.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First, we discuss what you're looking to accomplish and your goals or the details of your wedding. You'll get a wedding consultation form to fill out which will help us along whether you know your song and have an idea or none at all! You'll also get a "start my lessons" form to fill out for your intro lesson to help expand upon your goals and learning likes! Once I gather some information about your needs, I'll give you recommendations on lesson packages that will best meet your goals and needs based on usual learning curves. Once we get started, we'll do an intro to partner dancing so you or both of you will learn the basics of how to connect to a partner and make dancing feel much better and not like bumper cars. If you're unsure about starting, you can also do the intro lesson to get a feel for it and try out the experience:) Then we'll start your feet moving. By the end of the first lesson, you'll have a basic dance through one song! Which is pretty cool. I'll be analyzing your learning style as we go so I can adjust my teaching to make sure I'm always reaching you with the right information in the right way! From there, we keep working to advance your dance skills or create the perfect wedding dance!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I wrote my thesis on the Argentine Tango in college while studying in Buenos Aires and fell in love with the subtle nature of leading and following. After that I worked in the professional ballroom world teaching students of all ages and performing. I even opened for Dancing With The Stars Tour with one of my students! I believe we should always keep learning and practicing! I've worked with many high schools to run Ballroom-Hip Hop fusion programs. And I've spent about ten years honing my teaching craft to best reach my clients. I spent time studying communication, psychology and education as well in college at both Skidmore and Harvard to further advance my understanding of teaching and non-verbal dance communication! Coming from CT, I spent much of my time in NY and CT learning social dance styles like salsa and west coast swing.
