- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Every client will choose from lesson packages that will best help them get started achieving their goals. My packages are developed to meet your needs, budgets and schedules. Private instruction generally costs between $65 and $90 per lesson depending on the package size and length of time. Some packages include groups and semi privates to help lower the per lesson price as well.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First, we discuss what you're looking to accomplish and your goals or the details of your wedding. You'll get a wedding consultation form to fill out which will help us along whether you know your song and have an idea or none at all! You'll also get a "start my lessons" form to fill out for your intro lesson to help expand upon your goals and learning likes! Once I gather some information about your needs, I'll give you recommendations on lesson packages that will best meet your goals and needs based on usual learning curves. Once we get started, we'll do an intro to partner dancing so you or both of you will learn the basics of how to connect to a partner and make dancing feel much better and not like bumper cars. If you're unsure about starting, you can also do the intro lesson to get a feel for it and try out the experience:) Then we'll start your feet moving. By the end of the first lesson, you'll have a basic dance through one song! Which is pretty cool. I'll be analyzing your learning style as we go so I can adjust my teaching to make sure I'm always reaching you with the right information in the right way! From there, we keep working to advance your dance skills or create the perfect wedding dance!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I wrote my thesis on the Argentine Tango in college while studying in Buenos Aires and fell in love with the subtle nature of leading and following. After that I worked in the professional ballroom world teaching students of all ages and performing. I even opened for Dancing With The Stars Tour with one of my students! I believe we should always keep learning and practicing! I've worked with many high schools to run Ballroom-Hip Hop fusion programs. And I've spent about ten years honing my teaching craft to best reach my clients. I spent time studying communication, psychology and education as well in college at both Skidmore and Harvard to further advance my understanding of teaching and non-verbal dance communication! Coming from CT, I spent much of my time in NY and CT learning social dance styles like salsa and west coast swing.
