FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I will usually start out with my hourly rate, until I know more about the project. Once I feel comfortable with the scope of the project, the client and I are better equipped to work out a flat fee. One round of revisions is included in all my pricing, and after that I go back to an hourly rate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get as much information about the project as possible, right out the gate: • How will the art/design(s) be used? Who's the target market? • What is the deadline? • What format would the client like the art to be delivered in (actual physical piece, Photoshop, Illustrator, PDF, JPG, EPS, etc.)? • Are there any look/style examples that will help me arrive at the final design faster? • How does the client prefer to work? How available will they be for questions and clarification? From there I like to create a sketch/rough layout and get that fully approved before moving to a final version. The client gets a free round of changes to fine-tune the direction.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After earning a BFA in Illustration and Visual Communication, I've spent the last 10 years as a digital and traditional artist, working on hundreds of print- and web-based projects. My experience has taught me to anticipate design challenges as well as logistical issues before they happen, which saves time, effort, and most of all MONEY in the long-run. I pride myself on my communication skills and creativity, and hope to use both to create art that is both engaging and functional.
