Introduction: From my experience, there are two main qualities that make a classical guitar teacher stand out: a. performing experience, and b. teaching experience. I feel very lucky to have had unique, awesome opportunities to develop both of those over the years.
In terms of performing experience - My group Mobius Trio has been concertizing all over the world since 2011. We've been really lucky to have made a name for ourselves in the classical guitar world, and that's led to collaborations and performances in places as diverse as England, Brazil, Germany, and all over the US. This gives me an extremely broad, developed experience with performing, and I think that's a really important thing to pass on to my students.
In terms of teaching experience - I've been lucky enough to teach at the California Conservatory of Music for the last 5 years, and it's been an amazing experience in which I've grown so much as a teacher. CCM is, no exaggeration, one of the top pre-college guitar schools in the country, and in my work there, I've had the opportunity to work with an incredible faculty and EXTREMELY dedicated students.
Through this mutual dedication and the power of a heavily Suzuki-influenced teaching method, we've produced so many stand-out students, all of whom enjoy music and guitar from the bottom of their souls. I bring this experience into my own private, SF-based studio, where my students have simultaneously studied at SF's great School of the Arts high school, and gone on to studio at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, one of the top Guitar Performance programs in the world.
Everything. Studying guitar is my life, and I am lucky enough to ALSO love communicating that passion to students. Having the opportunity to make a living sharing my love of music and guitar with the world is my dream job, and I get to live it every day.
