What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When shoot portraits I like talking to my clients about likes and dislikes in general so I can get a sense of their personalities. It makes it easier to know what will or will not work for a particular person's wants or needs.
For product photography I will research the brand in order to get a sense of their marketing style but also speak with the client to better understand their hopes for the end result.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an AA from the Art Institute of San Francisco and I currently work as a photo assistant at Le Tote.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started photography when I was in high school. I was head photographer of a film club and did all of the posters for the film projects and behind the scenes photography.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Recently, I have been trying my hand at a more documentary style photography, creating photo essays on subjects. I enjoy this style because it allows me to capture my subject in their most honest state. They usually forget I am there and the photos are very candid.
