Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have been an artist since my childhood and started working professionally in my teens. I was an instructor at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco from 1996 to 2011. I ran a contemporary art gallery in North Beach in San Francisco from 2010-2012 . Over the span of four decades I have made and sold thousands of artworks, both ready-made and custom orders. I’ve instructed thousands of students. People usually buy or commission art, take art lessons or learn wilderness skills from me. Many times it all blends into one, like I have people who learn all or many of the different skills I practice and teach because it's part of a complete lifestyle. Art is one of those things that makes life magical. I get dialed in when I do it and that feeling stays in the work. It’s cool to be able to give others that special experience.

Chris brought me out into the Point Reyes wilderness for two days in May of this year. I had an amazing time learning backpacking/primitive skills in a fun and safe environment. The first day we hiked in to our campsite and he showed me how to identify several of the edible plants in the area and forage safely for food as we walked. We ate miner's lettuce, blackberries, clover, dandelion, plantain, and nettle. Plantain can also be chewed and put on a hive or sting. I learned this after seeing Chris get stung by the nettle. Chris showed me how to identify poisonous plants in the area as well including hemlock, which there was quite a lot of, and buttercup. As we approached our camp he showed me how to find and use suitable sharpening stones in the wilderness. Despite the strong winds on the beach we made a fire there before going back to our campsite to sleep under the stars. The next day we went out to Alamere falls and went swimming in Bass Lake. Before that we ate a delicious semi-foraged lunch at the top of a cliff by Alamere falls. At Bass Lake, Chris taught me fox walking and wide-angle vision, a technique to maximize awareness while moving through the wilderness. Throughout the trip we foraged about half of our food and ate with chopsticks made from standing dead twigs. All in all, quite a fun and exciting trip. Chris has a lot to teach about the wilderness. With the skills and knowledge he's taught me I can bring less with me into the wilderness and enjoy my time there more.

My experience with Chistopher has always been positive. My first portrait commission was 20 years ago and my last one was last year. Through the years he has transformed his canvases in wonderful memories for our family.

I had Chris help me move some things to storage and build bookshelves, etc. to house them. He is very easy to work with, and did a great job. Five stars!

I've taken a few survival classes with Chris. We've gone over fire making with the hand drill and bow drill, edible plants, night walking in the forest, bow shooting, animal tracking and bird watching. Chris's knowledge is first class in these subjects and he is a lifelong learner and tinkerer so he is never bound to a particular ideology which makes him a powerful teacher. He's also a very chill teacher personality so I never felt too overwhelmed by anything. Make no mistake though, mastering these skills requires dedicated daily practice. But there is no one better than Chris to teach you the fundamentals and facilitate the start of your journey.
