FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Proofreading and Line Editing: 4 dollars a page Developmental Edits: 5 dollars a page Writing Coaching: 50 dollars a meeting (we meet regularly, after you've submitted another chapter of your manuscript. In our meeting I give you feedback, exercises if needed, work with you on any blocks or issues that are coming up around the work, etc.).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I begin working with a new client, I go over the project with them in detail to make sure that we are on the same page about the scope of the project, deadline and any other requests. I will also use this time to set up phone calls, if we decide that the project would benefit from a conversation (for example, with my book editing clients, I often have a brief follow-up phone call with the author in addition to submitting my edits and a few pages of feedback). Once we have a written, detailed agreement then I get to work. If I hit any snags, then I immediately contact my client to figure it out. Once I've finished, I submit an edited version with written feedback. I always meet my deadlines and often turn my work in early. After submission, I am available to answer any questions my client has about my work or feedback.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA from UC Berkeley in Literature, an MFA from Mills College in prose (where I also took several journalism classes as well), worked as a literary agent's assistant at Kimberley Cameron and Associates and years of experience as a freelance journalist. I have published fiction, essays (CNF) and non-fiction and been awarded grants and fellowships for my writing. I have been selected to join such workshops as Voices of Our Nation and Community of Writers at Squaw Valley. I founded and ran two different reading series in the San Francisco Bay Area and have been a part of an active writing group since I graduated from my MFA.
