FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The quoted price includes up to two rounds of revisions and an initial conversation designed to understand your goals and strengths. In addition, if it makes sense, I can send you a questionnaire to explore potential additional strengths to highlight on your resume. Pricing for customized services can be discussed during initial conversations. LinkedIn profiles: New profiles available for $80 (maximum of 2 hours' work). Pricing for updating existing profiles vary based on the work required. Special offer: Clients purchasing resume services are eligible for a 20% discount on cover letters and/or LinkedIn profiles.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Below are the steps I generally go through with a client. I'm happy to customize the process as much as possible depending on what works best for you. 1) Do a quick review of resume and sample job descriptions to get a sense of the client's situation and objectives. No payment needed. 2) Based on #1, have a preliminary discussion to better understand the client's needs and offer initial suggestions. No payment needed. 3) Do an intake questionnaire if needed to assess background and interests. Additional third-party questionnaires can also be used to evaluate industry fit, etc. 4) Discuss plan of action and various pricing options depending on the amount of work required. At this point, I want to learn as much as possible about your targeted industries from the expert (you)! 5) Client makes 50% deposit. 6) 1st draft is done usually within 5-7 calendar days. 7) Schedule call with client to review draft. 8) Make additional changes. 9) Submit final version to client, usually within 15 calendar days. 10) Client makes remaining payment and receives fully editable version of document.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Resume experience: In addition to my work at Orion Consulting Services, I have had the opportunity to work on resumes for a close friend, who runs a very successful resume writing business. I have also helped several friends, family, and alma mater alumni over the years with their resumes. In addition to this work, I received in-depth guidance on resume best practices while I attended graduate school at Columbia. Professional experience: I spent 5 years in the financial services industry and went through the experience of recruiting with three different companies - a bulge bracket bank, a mid-sized firm, and a boutique firm. Needless to say, I spent plenty of time honing my resume during those 5 years! Following graduate school, I have been working in the technology (games) sector, and got a sense of how things vary between industries when it comes to resumes and recruiting.
