FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I never require a client to pay on a tax return that is not submitted to the IRS. I know it can be difficult to determine an outcome until the tax return is done and I only want my clients to be happy. I can also withhold fees from the refund if are receiving a refund.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, I will ask them if they have gone to school in the last 3 years. I will ask them if they did their own tax return or had a friend help them. I will ask them if they had un-reimbursed job expenses. I basically perform a free 2nd look at whatever tax returns the client has already submitted to make sure they did not lose significant money. Then we can go over the tax return they want to file.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have had many hours of tax training and passed a CPA like exam with the IRS. Plus, I have taken courses at San Mateo College with an emphasis on business entities such as C-corps, Partnerships and S-corps. However, none of that matches my main source of knowledge which is a lot of experience doing tax returns for over 5 years. Plus, what truly differentiates me from the pack is that I don't operate in a vacuum as a lone preparer. This is very common in the tax field to adopt erroneous and costly methodologies that can cost clients thousands. Yet, the preparer is clueless that they have been harming their clients because there is no around to tell them otherwise.
