I was only half sure that we were going to get some painting done in the office. But Kendall from Seffer Paints reached out to me just at the right time and offered to come by and do the estimate. Kendall came over and did a quick estimate and although he didn't have the lowest quote (not too far from it though), I did like that he was the only one who actually offered to come on site before giving a concrete dollar amount. On the day they were to start the job, they were punctual and even did another walkthrough before starting the job. A couple of days later, everything was done and there wasn't even a paint smell lingering at all. Not only that, but Nathan (of Seffer Paints) worked over part of the weekend and was even able to accept some deliveries for the office and also locked up after he cleaned up everything. Nathan was really helpful - although we had originally discussed a different scope of work, he was very willing to work with me to accommodate the new scope when I changed my mind. When it was clear that I had purchased the wrong supplies, he was also really flexible and went out to grab the right kind from a hardware store a few blocks away. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I price per square foot on all projects. It is a base price and can be discussed per scope of work.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to first make contact to get an idea of what are the customers needs. I then schedule an appointment to come look at the site and take measurements. After doing the square footage math I send a detailed proposal identifying all scopes of work and price points.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I went through the California contractor program at CSLB (California State Licensing Board). I have been through the apprenticeship program in the Painters Union here in San Francisco and Austin Texas and successfully been certified a Journeyman Painter.
