FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Although I have a standard rate of $50/hour when students come to me, I am flexible for some students who only require a 30 minute lesson, and I give discounts to college students, if someone has more than one child and both are taking lessons from me, and some elderly individuals.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually have a consult lesson where I meet the prospective students. During this time, I find out any background that the students has had in music. I then introduce them to the instrument, in showing them the proper handling technique, finger positions and with woodwind and brass, breathing techniques. We always start with warm up exercises. I often provide the book we will be using for the students and I also find out if the student wants to learn any songs specifically.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've have been teaching music now for 20 years and enjoy working with a variety of students. Often I realize over my years of teaching, that there are several types of learners and I always like to accomidate and structure my lessons to the learner's need. I have a B.A. in Music with a specialization in Music Education and String Studies from UC Irvine. I have my certified teaching credential from the state of California in music as well. I am currently working on my Master's degree.
