Introduction: I've been performing and writing music professionally since 2007 - on cruise ships and all over the bay area and SoCal....jazz, salsa/Afro-Cuban jazz, rock, pop, blues, top 40, religious music, etc. for parties, weddings, life celebrations/memorials, festivals and many other events. PIANO LESSONS: I'm the person that students go to when they want to get something MORE out of the piano than what they're getting (or have gotten) from typical classical piano lessons; It's great for building a solid foundation, but if you want something else out of it, I'll take you there. I have years of experience teaching adults and teenagers jazz, rock/pop/R&B, salsa, etc. I've also taught piano/keyboards and coached the bands for the Shoretel Battle of the Bands (where Shoretel employees learned an instrument and how to work/play together in a band as a team-building experience) for the 3 years they did it. I have degrees in both jazz piano performance and music education. I enjoy the "aha!" moments when things "click" for students, as well as opening the door for them to improvise, write, and play music that they enjoy and understand the theory behind it....more than a student typically gets with the classical approach (but I started there as well, and it provides a good foundation).
