Introduction: Lynda Mortensen, the owner of Bay Area Pet Pals, has been a small business owner for over 26 years. Her love of animals has remained with her throughout her childhood and prompted her to learn various pet care techniques and how to administer pet first aid. Lynda has opened her heart to adopt many pets over the years and she loves helping other pet owners care for their own pets. She trains each Pet Pal employee to follow specific guidelines. You will never have to worry about re-schedules due to sickness or vacations – there is always an equally trained Pet Pal available to ensure that every appointment and pet visit is covered. Bay Area Pet Pals is a licensed, bonded, and insured company. Each and every pet is screened to see if there are any special needs or issues that need to be addressed. We keep detailed records to ensure that each pet gets the best care possible. Information such as the animal’s medical condition, medications, habits, fears, likes, dislikes, and their overall routine is very important. Bay Area Pet Pals also maintains a network of emergency vets and we provide pet first aid training for all of Our Team Members. Choosing a pet sitting service can be difficult. At Bay Area Pet Pals, teamwork and professional service is what you can expect. We do not use independent contractors who perform a job “here and there”. We hire actual employees and thoroughly screen, background check and train them to meet our standards of caring service. Each Pet Pal must meet our requirements of punctuality and respect – and each much possess a big love for animals. Our employees follow a system of communication that keeps each pet owner updated and no pet left anxiously waiting. References are important. Bay Area Pet Pals can readily offer a list of references to anyone who asks. Past and current customers are the best people to ask about their experience choosing Bay Area Pet Pals. CHECK US OUT ON YELP! Bay Area Pet Pals owner, Lynda Mortensen began with “Super Scoopers” in 1989. Her business was one of the first doggie yard clean-up services in existence. Shortly after opening, word spread that such a service existed. “Super Scoopers” was soon asked for interviews on station KNBR 68’s Frank and Mike radio show, the Alex Bennett show on KMEL and several other local stations. Eventually, Steve Rubenstein, reporter for the SF Chronicle, heard of the service and asked to ride along for a day. He wrote a full column about Lynda’s business and her service for pets. As the “Super Scoopers” business grew, customers asked for more. “Super Scoopers” then added pet and house sitting services, pet food & supply delivery, dog walking and pet taxi services. After taking a few years off to raise a family and succeed at other endeavors, Lynda and her crew are ready to share their experience and expertise in pet care once again – as Bay Area Pet Pals! Lynda knew at an early age that she would eventually work with animals. As a child, she was always the one to bring home various stray animals or take in pets that friends could no longer keep. After high school, Lynda attended school for veterinary assistants. She eventually realized that a daily dose of suffering and sick animals would not be the best way to share her love of pets. Lynda completed volunteer work for a few local animal shelters, and ended up adopting many pets with the hope of saving them from euthanization. Unfortunately, it proved to be stressful and she stopped after taking home 13 cats and four dogs. Bay Area Pet Pals is Lynda’s dream of working with animals on a daily basis. It is a joy for her to assist people with their loved pets. She gets a daily pet “fix” and loves every minute of it. The Mortensen Family Lynda’s husband, Eric, works for a commercial property management company in Menlo Park as the Controller. In his spare time, he shares Lynda’s love of animals and occasionally helps with Bay Area Pet Pals customers. Lars and Anthony also love animals. They have many years of experience caring for their own pets as well as working for Bay Area Pet Pals during school breaks. Oldest son, Lars, graduated UC Davis in 2013 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a 4.3 GPA. His new career will be designing HVAC systems for a large company in the Bay Area. Lars is also an Eagle Scout, and Lynda and Eric are very proud of his achievements. Lars’ love for the family pets and the outdoors means he is a great help with Bay Area Pet Pals when he is available. Youngest son, Anthony, graduated Carlmont High School in June of 2012 and is currently enrolled at a 4 year CSU and enjoying his classes and the dorm life. He has over seven years of experience playing alto saxophone with his school’s band and taught himself how to play the guitar. Anthony was also a Boy Scout and has proudly attained the rank of Eagle as of November 2011. His love of the outdoors and pets also make him a great help with Bay Area Pet Pals whenever extra hands are needed on school breaks. Lynda

This is seriously the best pet sitting/dog walking service around! I've tried several others and nothing compares to Bay Area Pet Pals. I have 2 cats who definitely need a visit every day when I'm on vacation for food and litter cleaning. I feel so much less anxious about leaving them now that I have BAPP. Up until recently I also used them for daily dogs walks. Our elderly dog passed a few weeks ago. ;-( They come to your house and take notes about where food, water, treats, toys, etc are. They also have VERY detailed online forms to fill out. You get to meet your sitter/walker....you will have the same person every visit unless you are notified otherwise. WHICH I LOVE. I have used several of the BAPP sitters and walkers and I can honestly say they have all been wonderful. Lynda seems to do a great job screening all of her employees. I feel so much better about taking trips now and I don't feel guilty about leaving my pets! One of the best parts of their service is that every day you get an updated email or text message! They also send pictures and a description of what happened and/or cute videos. No more worrying if the petsitter made it there, if your animals are starving or if they've gone to the bathroom everywhere! Even though I never specified this they also vacuum the litter area and take out all the trash every time so I come home to a nice clean house. They even left the porch light on for me knowing I wasn't getting into town until evening on the day I came home. I highly recommend BAPP FOR SURE!

I just love them! They have done an exceptional job providing dog walking for our dog. Getting started with BAPP was extremely easy! Much easier than I thought it would be. Our dog is almost 7 years old and has been okay with staying home by himself for a long time . But we knew he needed more walks, and not so much alone time while we are at work all day.BAPP came by and it was super smooth. We all spent time getting to know each other because bottom line was that they were going to be in our home when we were not going to be here. That takes a lot of trust. They seemed very nice and like they really wanted to make sure our dog was taken cared of. I filled out the online paperwork and they started the walks the next week. Their pricing is very competitive for what they offer and how flexible they are with us. Rather than bring our dogs somewhere, which takes a lot of time, they come over our place. They send us updates with videos and pics which we really enjoy.Fast forward a few months now and our dog has been so well taken cared of! It has been so worth it! They love our dog! The peace of mind they give us while we're both at work is immeasurable. If you are looking for PROFESSIONALS to take care of your furry pals, BAPP is the ONLY way to go! I'm thoroughly impressed by their customer service and their attention to detail. I feel they communicate really well and if you call them about anything, they call back as soon as they can. They even reply quickly via text and email. Even though we have the same person come all of the time, on occasion when our normal walker is off we have had other staff fill in...We can tell that all of the staff really loves animals and cares for their well being. As an owner, Lynda is very on top of things and makes sure everything is always running smoothly. Bay Area Pet Pals makes owning a pet much easier on us, especially with our busy schedules. If you need help with your pets I suggest contacting them, you will NOT be disappointed!

Bay Area Pet Pals has provided kitty sitting for me at least a dozen times per year over the past decade or so. I couldn't be more pleased with the service. The sitters are 100% reliable and offer excellent care. The daily updates are tremendous peace of mind when I'm away. Over the years, there have been many instances where our sitter has gone above and beyond the call of duty--from bringing in large deliveries that came at unexpected times to photographing the part number for a malfunctioning appliance and all kinds of other cat and home issues. Lynda is also super-responsive in coordinating and confirming. I can trust that even if our go-to sitter is unavailable (shout-out to Sherri--she rocks!), Lynda will find someone great to cover. Excellent service overall. Highly recommended.

Bay Area Pet Pals have been a godsend for me. We were new to the Bay area 3 years ago and I didn't have the family I normally relied on to watch my cats. On top of that one of my cats is diabetic and the other has chronic kidney disease. I'm a Veterinary Technician so finding the right people to watch my cats was critical and boarding them just stresses them out. I reached out to Lynda and was super impressed by her business model and the care takers she hires. You give her a lot of information about your pets and that really eased my mind that she cares about them. She is upfront about what she needs from the pet owner so there are no issues while you are gone. I travel a lot and Alisse and Kim and absolutely phenomenal! They give my diabetic cat her insulin and Alisse was even willing to learn to give fluids to my old gal. They spend quality time with them and are in constant communication with me via text or email. You do pay for the service but the peace of mind I get leaving my cats in their care is worth it to me.I highly recommend them!

It is my first time to be in this place together with my newly adopted Siberian Husky. At first, I'm a little nervous with how my dog will socialize with his fellows, but the place is AWESOME! glad that, Rocky, loved it and enjoy the place!
