Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: If you live in the Bay Area, chances are you’re a busy person with unique constraints (on your time) limiting your ability to stay healthy. My job is to help you prioritize your self-care and collaborate with you in the construction of a unique plan that fits your life and evolves as you do. Any trainer or doctor can tell you to eat less crap and eat more veggies. But how they listen to and work with you to create effective change is the key. You’ve got a life; how we optimize it as a team becomes our passion. My practice focuses on 5 areas of preventive health care: Movement - We start simple and collaborate on a plan that meets your needs. We restore mobility, build strength and resilience. Food - Food is medicine. No fad diets here, together we develop a plan to radically change your relationship with food so eating isn't a chore but a pleasure. Mindfulness - It's not all meditation. Mindfulness encompases a set of tools that create awareness around our behaviors and habits. Awareness is then a first step towards change. Recovery - Sleep, massage, chiropractic acupuncture. How we treat our body when we're not in the gym is just as important as when we are in the gym. We find the optimal modalities for you to achieve your best results. Joy - Joy? The adults I tend to work with commonly lose track of the fact that sometimes the most mundane things bring us the most joy. Maybe it’s taking up a lost hobby, singing more in the shower, painting miniature soldiers. Who knows? But studies show that people who do what they love are happier, sexier, and smell better. So you’ve got a choice: live as you are or become a happier, sexier … and smellier better you. I'm passionate about life and it's my soul's desire to help others cultivate joy through health. I take pride in my curiosity and use it to find the best and most current science to apply to my practice. I have a BS in Exercise Biology from UC Davis, and am certified in a wide range of specialties, including Z Health (a neurological based approach to movement), the Center for Mind Body Medicine, Precision Nutrition and FRC.

Exactly what you need and then some in a very supportive, chill environment. I have been working with Conrad Sherby. I started occasionally with him 3 years ago at the big, shiny gym (that I still appreciate). If you continue to take Conrad's suggestions on a regular basis, you can make real progress, injury free, in multiple physical and mental facets. The guy is extremely mature, educated, worldly and is helpful on many levels. Most importantly, he LISTENS to what you want to achieve. He seems to like clients who have had injuries, or difficult biologies, and to work with them to make them more successful than they thought they could be. I have never felt judged by him if I don't do what I agreed to. I just know I will not reach my goals in the anticipated time if I don't deliver. My main problem is to make myself work as hard when I am on my own as paying a trainer for more than a couple of times a week is not realistic. Some advantages of Conrad are that he has a strong background in nutrition not just in exercise physiology and he can help with swimming off-site if you make arrangements. At the facility, I recognize a lot of the trainers as the better ones from other local facilities. My observation is there are all levels of clients from teenagers working out their excess testosterone to much older people looking to maintain their health. The environment is very relaxed and respectful. Plenty of equipment but of the weights, cables, balls, kettle bell variety. It doesn't have lots of single muscle LifeFitness or Nautilus equipment as that is not their approach. Functional, multi-muscle exercises is the philosophy. You don't pay a facility fee; you pay what you work out with your trainer. The facility is covered. It is extremely clean. There are bathrooms that double as a changing area but there is no shower. It is not a spa type gym. It's a training/workout place that smells nice and is clean and well equipped. I like my time there and have lots of respect for Conrad and am impressed by the other trainers I see working with their clients.

I've been working with Conrad Sherby of Life Sherpa Fitness for more than 2 years and find my weekly sessions with him a true highlight of every week. The gym where he practices is clean and uncrowded and reserved only for trainers with clients. It's a positive place where the trainers and clients are all respectful, happy, and working on their various goals. Conrad is a rare gem of a trainer, although the term "trainer" doesn't begin to cover what he offers! He is truly gifted and fully oriented to helping his clients achieve whatever health/fitness goals they want; heck, if you're not sure of your goals, he'll help you by asking the right questions, getting to know you and your habits, and figuring out plans with you. As you continue your teamwork, Conrad frequently adjusts the trajectory of your workouts and recommendations for you as your body or life events change (eg, you get stronger, you're injured, you're overly stressed from a poor work-life balance, your life has too little happiness at the moment, and so on!). Conrad also has a myriad of excellent referrals for you to increase your wellness, for example, to a massage therapist or gifted yoga instructor. Conrad gave me a reference to my new-favorite cookbook, too. As a true educator, he also will send you interesting and helpful videos, articles, or links to apps you may benefit from. We've even gone on weekend hikes with a small group together--just for fun and camaraderie while exploring something new. Conrad could easily have chosen to become a doctor, neuroscientist, teacher at any level, psychologist/counselor, among others, but it speaks to his passion that he chose what drives him the most: a career as a health/happiness/wellness/mindfulness coach using his large base of knowledge, his passion for science-based information, his innate ability to "get" people, and his orientation toward helping others attain a healthy life that works within their life patterns. He has tremendous patience and never judges others; plus, in between sessions, he will even text you to see how that new "habit" is going (eg, "how's the stretching going during the work day?" "Did you have a chance to step away from the computer and take a walk this week?"). I cannot recommend him highly enough--you deserve a try with Conrad to increase your levels of happiness and overall wellness.

I've been training with Conrad since 2014. I had worked with other trainers for a number of years, but after training with Conrad for only six months, I was able to see unprecedented results and not only reach my personal fitness goals, but exceed them! The immediate results that I was able to observe in such a short time blew my mind! It was both rewarding and motivation to continue working even harder. Conrad introduced me to the benefits of heavy weight training, and he helped me to change my approach to eating and diet. What I like about working with Conrad is that he really understands the physiology behind everything we do, and he really listens to what my goals and concerns are. I can trust that my fitness plan is well thought out and methodical, and that there is a purpose behind every exercise and circuit that we do. My workout is really personalized for me. I recently turned 40, and I really wanted to do something to physically challenge myself. Thanks to Conrad, I now have two Spartan Races under my belt. He trained me so hard and prepared me so well that I had a blast getting through the race with no problem. I would never have been able to do it without Conrad's guidance. Conrad has helped me to get stronger and leaner than I've ever been. I feel like a different person and I look forward to pushing myself to the next level!

Conrad Sherby is an excellent trainer based out of CrossRoads Fitness in San Mateo. I do personal training sessions with him twice a week in the evenings, and each time I feel motivated and enthusiastic about working out. I am someone who prefers playing sports to a typical gym workout, and have always dragged my feet about going to the gym, but Conrad has truly helped me enjoy my workout sessions. Because he knows how much I like playing basketball, he has incorporated basketball drills into our sessions to help improve my skills and has helped me get stronger and increase my endurance as an athlete. The conversation he provides while encouraging me during a workout is unmatched and covers everything from stories on NPR to literature to Comic-Con. He is amazingly good at what he does and is extremely knowledgable and patient. Part of what he offers as my trainer is a detailed daily workout that I can do at home on my own, a monthly newsletter covering different topics relating to health, a comprehensive look at my eating habits and ways to improve them, and most importantly someone who is completely supportive about my fitness goals. If you're feeling anxious or uninspired by working out, I'm sure that you'll feel different after training with Conrad!

I'm not a gym rat or a self motivated person who wants to work out. Conrad makes sure it's always interesting, he is always asking how I feel so he can adjust our workout, and more importantly he keeps my goals in mind. I love that he works out with me and continues to encourage me. We have a frat time working out, even when it's painful 😉

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

$120 flat rate per session hour

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I offer two complimentary sessions for new clients. The first session is an opportunity to see if we will work well together as well as establish a baseline level of fitness. We discuss your medical history, background, outcome goals etc. as well as performing movement assessments. The second session is a training session tailored for you based on your goals. From there we design your program and training frequency. We really take our time to tease out bad movement patterns to alleviate pain and learn good body mechanics. I typically employ methodologies from Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) , Z health and The Institute of Motion for mobility and movement work.
