My fiance Eric found this photographer on thumbtack, and we had such a poor experience that we felt we needed to warn other's. We hired Seth to do our engagement photos and we were so excited, until the session began. Let me start off by saying Seth and his wife are very nice people, but incredibly unprofessional. When we got to the location, I explain that I have a vision impairment, and that with my prosthetic eye, I can not do shots where I am looking anywhere other than center. He stated that he had not worked with someone with a prosthetic before, but I was not concerned because I have had many amazing photos taken by professionals before. He started by telling us that he takes shots 3 at a time, and he was going to start testing the lighting. We sat there and talked with him for a while before we realized he had started the actual shoot. Never once did he say " ready" "one, two, three" or even "look over here." He just kept talking with us. After about 30 minutes we decided to go to a different location (downtown) which took 20 minutes of driving, and about 15 minutes trying to find parking. By this time the day light was mostly gone, and he attempted to take some shots near some graffiti. Once again, we were not told to pose or look at the camera, or to even lift our heads. We paid him that night, and the next morning we received by email, the unedited photos. I am not kidding when I say that I cried, I couldn't find a single photo where we looked ok. My eyes were all over the place because I didn't know when he was taking the shots because he just kept shooting while going on with a casual conversation. Our mouths were open, we were looking all over the place, we were talking and laughing, and they looked absolutely HORRIBLE! We were told to find 20 photos for him to edit, we couldn't even find one we liked. Seth offered to re shoot the session, but I had my hair and make up done professionallyfor the first shoot, and I can not afford to have it done again, and the shoot left me feeling awful about my appearance. Why would I want to do that again! We asked for a refund because he had not done any editing, and the entire event was a disaster. He said we could have $50 back of our $150 we paid him. We felt that this was slightly ridiculous, I understand this is how he makes a living, but to send over such horrible photos, and think that he earned this money, I was beyond upset. I am now out the $120 for hair and makeup, the $100 that he feels he "earned," and I have nothing to show for it. I would recommend that everyone look elsewhere for professional photography work. I thought that a photographer cared more about producing quality work, Seth seems to only care about taking undeserved money. I regret hiring him from thumbtack, and wanted to warn other's that he is not what you are looking for, find someone else! Seth eventually agreed to give us back $75, but argued that there were good photos that he could edit, and that he could re shoot. We just want to be done with him at this point. We did not find any of the photos to be of quality, they were terribly unflattering. I am embarrassed to share these photos, but these are some of the ones that made me cringe. These never should have been send to us as photos to be edited. As you can see, we had no clue when the photos were being taken due to the lack of direction from the photographer.Jul 22, 2018VerifiedKenneth M.'s reply
I take great pride in my work, and am always trying to make sure my clients get what they want. My policy is to offer all photos to clients. Not just the ones that look good. Unfortunately, all photos posted from them are shots that are between good images, raw unedited shots, and/or metering shots. I asked them several times what they were looking for, and all they could say was water and/or bright colors with green/yellow/purple as their color set. There was no indication of unhappiness during the shoot whatsoever. They were pleasant, and laughing, and were seeming to enjoy themselves. They did not express any concerns, or ask any questions. I showed them several times throughout the shoot the shots they were getting, they seemed happy with the shots on site. I sent the raw pictures to them the next day, and asked them to send me the image file names for me to edit. Eric would not answer calls or texts, and would only reply several hours after an email was sent. They decided they were unhappy with the raw unedited photos and would not allow me to proceed with the job. They demanded a full refund or they would post negative comments on all of my social media pages. Being a trusting individual, I do not watermark my raw images (which after this incident will be changing in the future). Which means they have access to their entire set. I offered to re-shoot for them, edit the existing good photos (where there are plenty and a few can be seen in my profile) and give them a partial refund (as work had been done) for their trouble, which they refused. They would not under any circumstances work with me on getting their issues resolved. I issued them a partial refund, which they then demanded more money and again asserted that they would post negative comments and reviews on my social media pages. They were pleasant to shoot with in person, but were incredibly difficult to work with during the rest of the process.
He was excellent some of the best pictures we have ever gotten back from a family photo shoot. Very personable and made sure he got exactly what we wanted. Never felt rushed or like we were being told to pose in strange spots which for me is important in getting good pictures that I want. Will absolutely use again.Jul 19, 2018Verified

Seth is professional, personable, fun, patient, workable, and very very talented. The whole experience with K.S. Myatt Photo was hands down the best professional photography experience we have ever had. He made getting pictures done, with toddlers, a fun experience (with anyone else it was a drudgery.) You will not regret hiring K.S. Myatt.Jun 7, 2018

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I am flexible. I know that sometimes we want memories, but finances don't always allow it. Then things happen and in an instant the chance is gone. Sometimes for forever. I HATE that. I love the craft, and I love making people happy. But most of all, I love satisfied customers. I will almost always work with people if possible to make sure money doesn't get in the way of memories. My rates are based on rough packages. As with everything, ease of the process and customer service are my number one goal. The contents of the packages below should be viewed more as a guideline. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I love to get to know people. Be prepared to be my friend.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Best way to answer this question is with a mini-biography. I started taking photos when I was an early teen. I loved the idea of freezing things as they were in an instant, for forever. I have spent the better part of 18 years taking photos. I took several photography classes when I was in school, and have been doing it ever since. I have 18 years of experience, and am ALWAYS looking to improve and learn new styles and techniques.
