Hired on Thumbtack

We had originally planned to move in June, but a family emergency prevented that. I received several quotes at that time and informed the movers that we'll have to reschedule in the future, on an uncertain date. We made arrangements at the last minute when we did get a new date, and SNS was among the few that I contacted again. I talked with both Carlos and Isaac and found both to be respectful and flexible. They required a deposit of one third in advance and the balance paid immediately upon completion of the delivery. Because there wasn't enough time to mail a check for the deposit, only a credit card payment with a hefty processing fee was in the original quote. However, after discussing other options without fees, we were able to provide the deposit payment via PayPal and no processing fee. They did arrive late for the pick up, which was actually helpful to us because we were running behind, but sending an updated arrival time before the original expected arrival time would have been helpful. When they began loading the truck, it wasn't done efficiently because I hadn't realized how many boxes we had until the middle of the loading. By the time they finished, they didn't have room for many items we wanted to put in the truck, but everyone was running late, so we ended up storing many of those items at a neighbor's house. If they had started packing the boxes to the ceiling, I'm pretty certain that all would have fit, but unfortunately, no one fully grasped the amount of stuff we had, including us. We did have some miscommunication regarding when our items would be delivered, but they were able to adjust to make it work for me by hiring additional people. Before they left after unloading everything, Carlos told me that there were a couple items that were damaged in the move, and he assured us that they will compensate us for replacement/repair of the items. I appreciated that all of the SNS movers treated our property with care and us with respect and courtesy. We believe that this is our final move, but if thigs change, we'd definitely call SNS again. We also recommend them to others.

Savannah and Sons Moving's reply
Hello Mrs. Alka, we would like to address some of your concerns in regards to our tardiness, because we are based out of the G.A/S.C areas we normally accept moves beginning in these areas then transported nationwide. However, yours was the opposite. We still agreed upon your move. With that being said we do again apologize for the delay on our arrival there was a mixup in regards to the time zone change while in route, however we kept in contact with you throughout the 13 hour travel to Indiana. In regards to our payment methods. Yes, we did work with you as well to avoid the 3% processing fee due to the last minute rescheduling with your family emergency. That is a processing fee we cannot void nor do we profit from, but we were understanding of your situation. Yo rewind briefly to the beginning of our phone conversations the quote you originally received are always guaranteed, and to never fluctuate and we take pride in that. So, the price given for your move is based on several different factors. We received an item inventory report from you as well as detailed descriptions as far as preparation and staging once the crew arrived. However, this was not the case. The size truck prepared for your move was our 26ft which is the largest “Box-truck” that can be operated on U.S roadways. (Typically fills a 4-5 bedroom home and your move intended to be a 1-2 bedroom move based off the item inventory.) With the item inventory list we received this truck would provide more than enough space to where we would not have to stack many items due to the limited furniture and abundance of boxes being moved with an expected 2-3 load time for the crew but this wasn’t the case as well. The crew worked 5 hours and loaded every item on the inventory report plus more. Items not loaded such as a grill and queen mattress (weren’t on the report) did not fit however, was asked, if there would be room towards the end could they be loaded unfortunately there wasn’t. As far as the fame aged lamp shade and the shelf from the bookcase, we do apologize and are still willing to compensate for the times. Mrs Alka it was a pleasure working with you and your family and we THANK YOU in advance for all referrals and recommendations! -SavannahandSons Moving Co.

I was surprised at the quick response from Carlos and the prompt time in which he had the job completed. The personal and professional way he acted was very comfortable. Will use them again when needed and have already recommended them to friends and will continue to.

They showed up 2 and a half hours late but once at the house it was straight to work. Nothing broken and they arranged the furniture as my wife wanted it.
