Introduction: I work with students of all ages, experience levels, and musical interests. I focus primarily on teaching piano, guitar, and music production/beat-making in Ableton Live or GarageBand. A little more about me: I'm a lifelong multi-instrumental musician and music producer from Portland, ME. I play in a local band called "The Middle Men", performing at weddings, private events, and music venues both with my band and as a solo musician. I love playing jazz piano, but I also enjoy playing pop tunes. Between teaching lessons, performing, and working as a music producer - music has become my full-time job and I love what I do! Ryan is an excellent music instructor. Getting regular lessons from him in Piano in 2018-2019 brought me up from complete newbie to being able to express my composition skills. Ryan not only shared his knowledge of music theory, but also inspired me to find my muscle for improv, to not be afraid of making mistakes, and express beauty using the simple instrument that keyboard is. His grip on music notation for both piano and drums and very impressive to me. Other than that, his being well versed in chord progressions, diatonic as well as non-diatonic, also helped me build my tool bank for composition. I highly recommend him for your music needs.

I have studied piano & music production with Ryan, and he is an excellent teacher in both areas! He is not only skilled and knowledgeable in his craft, but he is also incredibly kind, compassionate, a great communicator and very patient. Learning a new skill is not easy, but he made me feel very heard and supported and explained new concepts to me so I could easily understand. He has a warm, welcoming energy that makes you look forward to working with him each lesson. It is very clear he loves what he does and he values the time spent teaching others. Highly recommend him as a teacher for all skill levels and ages!
