I have been studying under Bela since December of 2016 and I cannot express enough my gratitude and appreciation. Bela is an extremely talented and knowledgable teacher. I have learned so much in such a short time. I have improved greatly as an artist and Bela is more than a teacher, she has become a mentor. I am grateful to be able to learn from such a master.May 8, 2017Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My regular fee as of 2019 is $26/hour. I recommend three hour classes once a week (more times are possible, depending on student's wishes). I provide a conservative list of materials the student needs to purchase unless he/she already has his/her own supplies. Should the student wish to have classes for him-her/self plus friends, a special discounted price will be negotiated in person. Should there be a group of people willing to have weekly classes, I will travel to them. Price will be negotiated depending on location and number of people.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We have a conversation about the student's experience, goals and interests. The system I use is adjusted to each student's way of learning, rhythm of absorption, preferences, etc. Progress is incremental and I make sure that the base I give to the student is solid and has been absorbed well before proceeding to the next step. The process and level of teaching is always adjusted to where the student is at the time. My method ensures that beginners do not get "bad habits" and avoid typical mistakes. This leads to a solid, reliable base of knowledge and experience that will serve them throughout their painting life.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am an artist and I teach art. I have been painting for over 35 years and teaching for over 25 years. I am very successful at instructing beginners and intermediate students and helping them achieve their goals. My wide experience in a variety of mediums allows me to be open to all possibilities. I do not box students in and am always open to different and varied ways of working. I am very patient and genuinely interested in the student's growth and self expression. Throughout my painting life I have taken numerous classes with experts in their fields and continue to update and upgrade my own knowledge with constant study, exploration and improvements.
