FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Fees can range from $45.00 - $65.00+; depending on the dog's age, training goals, behavioral issues, or degree of owner involvement. Price includes treats and practice gear used by the trainer during visits. You can request an in-home ($20.00) assessment for additional facts about your dog's breed; performance strengths/challenges; plus other free educational materials. No charge for travel to locations 5 miles or less; for more than 5 there is a nominal fee of $.25 per mile. Cancellation fees may apply for no-shows or notice less than 48 hrs. Payment options: cash or onsite credit card.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Upon request, training starts with a $20, 30-minute, in-home assessment; getting to know your fur-buddy and family goals. Together, we evaluate behavioral challenges and what motivates your dog. I provide materials that explain the process; including behavior modification through target-treat-affection (TTA). I introduce common training terms and hand gestures, to provide a consistent language for everyone. These will be your first training homework. We set the next visit and start training!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My work combines over 40 years of canine experience with certifications in Canine Behavior and Enrichment; Animal Assisted Therapy; and Canine Training; from the Animal Behavioral Institute (PA). I am also a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor for humans; with a Masters in Psychological Counseling and a Doctorate in organizational management (for people). Amazingly, these very different learning paths merge together to form a dynamic platform for family dog training!
