Chef David Boyd- Private Chef-Down to Earth Cuisine "Delicious, organic, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully plated dishes"- On August 7th I hired Private Chef David Boyd to prepare an Italian Dinner for 10 in my home. (I had offered the "Italian Dinner for 8" as an auction item not knowing at the time who I would hire) He (and his lovely wife, also hired to assist him) arrived at 1pm to begin cooking for the 5:30pm event. Earlier in the week, we met to decide on the menu, appropriate tableware and wine/beverage pairings for the 5 course menu. We went with a Northern Italian theme featuring peaches because they were in season and seafood. I handled the purchase of the wine and cocktail ingredients but paid half of the per person food cost up front so that he could do all the grocery shopping which he did using local fish/meat stores and organically grown fruit and veggies from our area farmers market. He also arrived with all of his own knives and most utensils needed though he did use my mixing bowls and cookware. The entire meal was then prepared in our kitchen. Because he makes everything from scratch like croutons, mayonnaise, sugared garnish for the dessert etc. it is very time consuming, labor intensive and requires full use of your kitchen. He and his wife worked hard and fast for the 4.5 hours before guests arrived. They were conscientious and they cleaned and emptied the garbage etc. as they went. The result was delicious, organic, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully plated dishes that my husband and I were proud to serve to our guests. I would suggest discussing the estimated prep time for individual menu items as well as the per person cost ahead of time. Chef David seems capable of working within any reasonable budget, but he does require a lot of prep time if you choose complex menu items so that factors into his hourly rate. I think the dinner cost me more than what guests paid at the auction but that's totally my fault for not being more clear about my budget and for suggesting such complex ideas like an appetizer of scallops served in some sea shells I had. All in all, it was a very impressive, well paced, 5 course meal, and my guests enjoyed hearing Chef David explain the details of each delicious course as it was served. It was so nice to be able to just relax and enjoy my guests rather than stress about the food and clean-up. A really fun experience! I recommend hiring Chef David Boyd of Down to Earth Cuisine for your next dinner party. - Suzy H.

My husband and I had a large business project that kept us very busy for several days. I thought this would be a great time to try David's service. I was thrilled! The food was fabulous and was far less stressful than trying to go out after a long day. I will definitely use him again!

David prepared a weeks worth of premade meals for my family that I can remove from my freezer and reheat. He made everything in my kitchen, purchased all of the ingrediants and left the kitchen spotless. My 15 year old son is interested in becoming a chef and David answered all of his questions as they worked together in the kitchen. I would highly recommend his services to anyone that enjoys eating!!

We hired David Boyd to create an anniversary dinner for 2 at our house. David was the most responsive and communicative and so won the job. From there our expectations were exceeded. The price was a great value. The effort he put in from taking the time to come to the house and pre-viewing the kitchen, and asking about the local food markets and pre-viewing them several days ahead of time. Then the day of the job he asked to begin at 2PM for a 7:30 dinner, and he had printed up a special menu on nice paper that was a great unanticipated touch. While in the kitchen he welcomed any questions and was happy to share his knowledge. He made a complimentary and fantastic amuse bouche avocado soup, Farmer's cheese from scratch to go with the roasted carrots glazed in peppered honey; a phenomenal dish. The halibut was artfully prepared and presented with a peach serrano chutney and creamy pan sauce that was over the top, and an amazing dessert of chocolate mousse with macerated berries and almond crumble. From start to finish it was a lot of fun to have David in our home and a part of our special occasion. On top of being a great passionate chef he is a charismatic , articulate, interesting ,and intelligent new friend of ours. We highly recommend that you strongly consider him with confidence for any professionally prepared meal you need.

David prepared a wonderful dinner for my mother's 70th birthday celebration. We had hoped for, and he delivered, a fantastic meal - it was to die for food. What we didn't except, however, was what a wonderful overall experience David (and his lovely wife, who was there helping as well) made it! His food was absolutely spectacular, but his warm, friendly demeanor made it a special day. Everyone in our family enjoyed watching him prepare the meal and chatting with him in the kitchen - even the kids! We all felt pampered and relaxed; able to enjoy each others company without anyone having to worry about a thing - it was absolutely the best. (And let's not even get started on the samples we all snuck during prep time!). Thank you, David, for making the day so special; it was better than we ever hoped it could be.

The children were so well mannered and thoughtful and I feel like that is a reflection of the parenting given by your family and your brothers family. The fact that your son was thoughtful enough to be a vegetarian at his young age because he was aware that the food came from animals and was moved by that left a lasting impression on me.
