- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My current 1:1 tutoring rate ($75/hr) reflects my years of experience in test prep and my efforts to stay fresh with the exams to make sure I’m giving you the best tutoring I can. I offer a risk-free guarantee for the first hour of tutoring. If you are not satisfied or feel the tutoring is not a good fit, the first hour will be fully refunded. **For discounted rates, please see my group tutoring rates on my website. I create customized 2 week study plans for exactly what you need, and provide you with accountability to make sure your studying is happening.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with students online, using Zoom or Skype so we can see and hear each other and an online interactive whiteboard for us to collaboratively take notes on uploaded materials. Previous students find online tutoring convenient, flexible, and just as effective as meeting face-to-face. I am available to meet in 1, 1.5, or 2-hour blocks of time, depending on your test prep timeline. Occasionally I meet with students for longer blocks of time. I also offer a guided self-study program for students on a budget. I create customized 2 week study plans for exactly what you need, and provide you with accountability to make sure your studying is happening.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My test scores have always been top notch: LSAT: 177 GRE: 169 Verbal, 170 Quantitative SAT: 800 Verbal, 790 Math (in 1999) ACT: 99th percentile practice test score I've been formally trained as a tutor and have worked for several test prep companies and for myself in Seattle, New Jersey, Tennessee, Honolulu, and online. I've taught English as a Second Language in Honolulu and Thailand. I have a master's degree in Second Language Studies, with a specialization in Language Teaching. These days, I'm tutoring full-time and loving it.
