FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by getting to know the student a little bit so I can tailor their lesson plans - I will ask things like, what are your goals for wanting to learn piano? How much time are you willing to put in practicing at home? Have you had any previous experience with piano, other instrument, or singing? Are there specific songs/genres you’re looking to learn? Once I know the answers to those questions, I’ll be able to come up with a lesson plan/teaching style that is a perfect fit for the client!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started taking piano lessons in the fall of fourth grade and immediately fell in love. Nothing had captured my interest like this before! My teacher was amazing in how she gently taught, encouraged and motivated her students to success. I began teaching neighbor kids piano at age 17, and I have been both privately and as an employed teacher ever since, first in Montana and now in Washington!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
All ages of students! As young as 3 (though I generally don’t take students younger than age 5), up to retired adults! Anyone can play piano!
