Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Let's find your area of musical interest and make your dreams happen! • Flute Lessons cover tone, technique through etudes, solo work from the classical repertoire and student choices, and ensemble work. • Piano lessons cover solos from the Classical repertoire, accompanying, playing by ear and chording with lead sheets. • Recitals are held quarterly at the studio. We award Belts (similar to Karate) as students progress through levels of total musicianship, very rewarding! • All levels, ages and backgrounds are welcome! My piano and flute students currently range from age 6 to senior adult, with backgrounds from beginner to highly advanced. For more detailed information please see my website, deerlandfluteandpiano.com. Please check out my Facebook group for the studio as well, called Deerland Flute and Piano Studio. During this Covid-19 crisis the studio has several safety measures in place, particularly hand sanitizer before entering, 6' distancing, and masking when not playing. For a wonderful alternative to in-person lessons during this time, you may lesson with Zoom, Facetime or Facebook Messenger. As for my background, I have taught flute and piano lessons since 1996. Recently I earned a doctorate in Flute Performance at the University of Washington. Currently I am piano accompanist for the Skagit Valley Chorale of 130 singers, and I lead worship for Northwest Messianic Fellowship. At Skagit Valley College I taught Music Theory, Piano classes, and private flute and piano from 2001 to 2020. As principal flute of Skagit Symphony since 2004 I have soloed in several concertos on both flute and piccolo. I love teaching! It's rewarding to see students improve musically, develop self-confidence, and have an outlet that will last a lifetime.

As an adult over 60 years old I finally decided to take flute lessons, to get some basics as my self taught efforts simple didn't get me any further... someone recommended Stephanie Bethea to me and did she ever hit the spot of my needs. She understood where I came from and where I might go with the music even as I was unclear about it myself. I wasn't going to be a fabulous performer nor an ambitious amateur, all I wanted was a better understanding of flute technique and an enhanced feel for the flute as a very special instrument. I got all that and more in that short time (about 1 1/2 year) of concentrated devotion. It was an absorbing learning experience even a growth episode in spite of my advanced age. Though I eventually quit the lessons, the flute is still with me and the learning continues opening up new venues of music involvement... I am most grateful! Stephany's skills, knowledge and musicality, her personal integrity and contagious enthusiasm for music of any kind and her deep love, respect and appreciation of all of her students made her the model teacher she truly is. Sincerely, Herta Kurp

You are a dear lady, and it was especially fun to learn those Bulgarian folk song rhythms together on flute!

Stephanie Bethea has been my mentor and friend for nearly fourteen years now, and I cannot begin to list all of the wonderful things I have to say about her. I have accumulated too many! Her teaching is inspiring, fun, and effective, and her passion for music and her students remains unmatched by any of my professors before or since. It is with my whole heart that I recommend Stephanie, especially for young, eager students or for anyone who shares the same love for music that she does!

What a long way from your first lesson at age 7 asking to play "Fur Elise" to the Khachaturian Toccata. So privileged to be on your musical journey; what awesome talent you have.

Stephanie has been a highly influential educator in my high school career. I joined her studio as a freshman in high school and she has helped immensely in developing not only my sound and my technique, but has prepared me to be a successful and well-rounded musician. She creates an inviting and nurturing space for her students to grow and mature as musicians; her passion for music and for her students is quite evident in her teaching.

You're going far on flute -- so exciting to see you nailing competitions, forming woodwind quintets and seriously practicing!

Stephanie is exceptionally knowledgeable, very upbeat, and has unparalleled patience. I've seen her work wonders with beginners, and she inspired me not only to pick back up after five years musicless, but continue working with her as often as I can.
