About this pro
Alexander Ellis is a multi-instrumentalist film composer and music business professional. He has been writing/composing music for the past 20 years, holds a Masters in Music Business from The Berklee College of Music, works at a local record label and produces/records various projects and film scores at his studio. The best feeling in the world is when a song comes together effortlessly. It's like you've grabbed purpose out of thin air. Nothing (aside from my family) brings a smile to my face like writing a beautiful piece that fits it's purpose.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? For a musical project, I typically take 50% up front, 25% after the first mix revision and then the remaining 25% after final product is delivered. If a vocalist is required, we will work together to select the right person for the job and then talk about what they will cost an hour. Studio time is included in my cost, so it's not an added fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We sit down and discuss exactly what they are looking for. In songwriting, planning is about 80% of the job, while the execution and mix/mastering phase is only 20%. I attempt to connect with my client to understand not only their vision for the project, but also the feeling and energy behind it.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've been songwriting for over 20 years, and have about a decade of studio experience under my belt. I've been around musicians my whole life, and I'm confident enough in my skills that I left my 9-5 job to pursue this full time.
