FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I prefer teaching oboe in my home where I have access to tools to help with student's reeds as well as have all equipment necessary to help with any instrument malfunction. If I do travel, a traveling fee of $10 is added to lesson fees.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For a new student, I like to set up a discounted "trial lesson" where we meet for a half hour, look over any potential music and lesson plans from other music studies, and get to know each other briefly. By doing this, the student and family members may get to know me and decide if the situation is a good fit, as well as discussing the next step. This is a great introduction to lesson expectations and relating to one another without diving right into the music lesson.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Currently, I am a Doctoral of Musical Arts candidate at Stony Brook University, studying oboe performance and pedagogy. I have many years of performing and teaching experience with oboe. Although I did not earn degrees in piano, I have studied piano extensively before pursuing oboe as my career, totaling 20 years of piano and 10 years of oboe.
