FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices are based on the square footage of the final design plus materials, shipping, installation and travel as necessary.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Purchasing a large scale work of art is a financial investment as well as a highly personal endeavor. My first job is to understand the client's interests, what motivates them, their family or other sponsors to want a unique and compelling work of art. My process begins with a discussion of the client's vision, timeframe, estimated budget and creative preferences. From there I will produce a rendering at no cost to the client. Client supplied photographs can be a valuable resource at this point. We will discuss materials to be used, schedules and budget estimates. A contract will be created and working drawings will guide the final design. The client may visit my studio or, if out of town, receive regular progress updates by email. I will oversee transportation of the art, installation, project management as necessary, photography and final check list to complete the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My career spans 40 years of art making, including 25 years as a senior museum professional. I have participated in numerous exhibitions locally and nationally and am represented in numerous individual and corporate collections. I studied painting at the Corcoran School of Art and received a Masters Degree in Arts Management at The American University in Washington, DC. As Chief of Design at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and Director of the US Diplomacy Museum at the US Department of State I managed an array of complex design projects and teams of museum professionals. I bring many years of experience as an artist and the expertise to manage the process of creating and installing great works of art for your home or business.
