Introduction: Self defense and martial arts are not the same! Although I have a 4th degree black belt, I don't teach a martial art any more, I teach a self-defense system that is based on an 80,000 year old genetic survival response that helped keep our ancestors alive. It uses our natural abilities, human physiology and psychology and is morally, ethically and legally responsible. What I teach doesn't take years and years to master, it's hard-wired in all of us, readily available and never forgotten once awakened.
This system has been used by law enforcement and military personnel all around the world for more than 30 years, and its effectiveness has been tested and proven in the most dangerous and violent situations. If it keeps our warriors and first-responders safe, you can be sure it will do the same for you.
I teach this system (called the SPEAR system) because I realized that all the terrific techniques and skills I learned in my martial arts training with cooperative partners were great inside the dojo but insufficient elsewhere, particularly in a sudden encounter with a true attacker. The SPEAR system enables you to survive the initial moments of an encounter, and provides a bridge to whatever tools and skills you have (including but not limited to martial arts).
You will learn:
❖ What motivates you, and what an attacker wants and doesn’t want
❖ How to manage fear and make decisions under duress
❖ How your primitive survival system acts faster than thought to protect you from danger
❖ How to use basic skills to defend yourself (discovering your #humanweapon)
❖ How you respond to danger in realistic training scenarios with a bad guy
No matter what your age, your physical condition, or your background, YOU can benefit from this program too.
I love seeing the "lightbulb" moments when my clients realize that they ARE capable of protecting themselves and their loved ones:
❖ understanding that self-defense begins far in advance of an attack, not when the attack happens
❖ discovering what they are already capable of doing with no "fight training" at all
❖ finding out how powerful they are no matter what their size, athletic background, or age
❖ connecting with the natural protective tools their bodies already know how to use
With every class I teach, the importance and impact of what I'm doing to make good people safer is reinforced when I receive feedback like this from clients who initially were unsure and hesitant:
❖ "I'll be more prepared and have the confidence to defend myself!”
~ Anne B.
❖ "I'll fight back! Before the class I wouldn't have had the confidence to do this. I definitely feel safer, and [now] have the tools and permission.” ~ Judy W.
❖ “I feel much more capable, safe, and frankly badass. I’m willing to do what it takes to be safe.”
~ Celeste G.
❖ “Now I know how to avoid being in a bad situation by setting my ego aside, but I also know how to fight if I have to." ~ Dan F.
